Welcome to Cafe du Theatre, a charming café nestled in the heart of Saint-Malo, located at 8 Rue ville Pepin. This delightful establishment embodies the essence of traditional French café culture, offering a warm, inviting atmosphere that leaves both locals and visitors feeling at home.
As soon as you step inside, you are greeted by friendly staff who take pride in serving fresh meals and beverages. Many customers, like Nicola O'Shea, rave about the welcoming ambiance and the opportunity to sample local offerings, including the delicious local beer, Bosco. It's the perfect spot to relax after exploring the vibrant streets of Saint-Malo or taking a break from the nearby market, as noted by Mark Tomlinson.
The café is particularly renowned for its classic French breakfast options, highlighted by rich coffee and buttery croissants, all available upon request. Lee Bell describes it as a "fab stop for a French breakfast," making it an ideal choice for anyone seeking a cozy and authentic experience.
However, it’s worth mentioning that some visitors, like Duncan Weston, have reported mixed feelings about pricing here, claiming that it may be higher compared to other cafés in the area. That being said, Cafe du Theatre remains a beloved spot, primarily favored for its cozy vibes and traditional café fare.

Lovely spot with very friendly staff. We stopped for a quick drink to taste the local beer (bosco! It was delicious!), and we were made feel very welcome. Wish we could have stayed longer!

RIP off, avoid. This cafe has by far the most expensive coffee we have encountered in our 6 months in France so far. Exactly double what we paid for an identical order the day before a few miles away. I wish I had read reviews before visiting as prices seem to vary on a day to day basis. Guess we were ripped off for being tourists. Don’t worry this is day 1 of our stay and you may be surprised to hear we won’t be back…

Only went in for a coffee while having a break from the market next door. Very friendly service. Populated by many local customers. The terrace was full but found a table inside.
